Central Mass Commercial Fireground Operations
April 12 - April 14
Commercial buildings pose far more complex hazards than the typical 1 & 2 family dwellings we commonly encounter. This weekend will provide personnel with real-life hazards faced by firefighters along with proven strategies & tactics to overcome these issues.
The skill evolutions practiced will provide student the needed skills for successful operations at commercial building fires. Special concerns for Big Box Stores, local shops and taxpayers, warehouses, industrial facilities, and office complexes are addressed.
Hands-on skill evolutions include the following and more:
★ Commercial Door Forcible Entry
★ Rotary Saw Operations (steel cutting of chains, fence, posts, & bars)
★ Large Area Search Tactics & Equipment
★ 2 1/2″ Hoseline Operations
Friday evening lecture, straight from FDIC, DC Aaron Heller, Hamilton NJ (ret), “the Commercial Fireground”. Location TBD.
Saturday and Sunday hands-on evolutions at the acquired structure, 500 Main St, Groton Mass.
Full PPE including SCBA and 3 spare cylinders required.
Full weekend, for FOOLS members, $185. Non-members $200. Single-day option $135, Saturday or Sunday. Lunch included both days. $135 First
