Here is the line-up for the 2019 New England FOOLS Northeastern Fire Summit…

– Lt Steve Robertson, Columbus OH will be presenting “We Win With Water! The Engine Company’s Guide To Winning”
– Lt Nick Papa, New Britain CT will be presenting “Venting Tactically, The Ins and Outs Of Opening Up!
– FF Chris Tobin, St Louis MO and Sgt Chris Smith DCFD will be presenting “Lets Talk About Fire Sh*t”
– Captain (Ret) Art Bloomer, Kearny NJ will be presenting a brand-new program “Rapid Intervention, Don’t Just Stand There!”

New this year is a Sunday morning session with the Brothers from National Fire Radio that is sure to spark some discussion.

We are entering the second half of our second decade, and have no intention of slowing down!

We continue to deliver quality training through consistency, as we have since 2003.

Instructors

Lt. Steve Robertson
Lt. Robertson has been in the fire service for 31 years, the last 26 of which has been with the Columbus, Ohio Division of Fire. Steve is an instructor for Rapid Intervention Training and Associates and has taught rapid Intervention and engine company tactics nationally. Steve currently serves as the Lieutenant on Engine Company 18 in the South Linden neighborhood of Columbus. Steve has been a HOT instructor at FDIC for the past several years teaching rapid intervention. Additionally, Steve is the lead instructor of the Street Smart Engine class at State of Ohio fire school. He has also instructed at the High Rise Operations Conference and Command Officers Bootcamp in Pensacola Beach Florida. He has Also lectured at FDIC on Engine company tactics.
For the past 25 years Steve has also been a state certified Fire Safety instructor. He is also a member of the State of Ohio Fire Training Committee.
Steve started his fire service career in 1988 as a volunteer fire fighter. He became a full-time fire fighter in 1991. In 1993 he began his career with Columbus Ohio Division of Fire and was assigned to Ladder Co. 1. From there Steve went to Squad 23 for a year before going to Engine Co. 2. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 2002 and was assigned to the Relief Officer position in the first Battalion. In 2010 Steve was detailed to the Training Academy in charge of the Division Operations program. He then took an assignment at Engine Company 18 where he still currently serves. For the past 25 years Steve has also been a state certified Fire Safety instructor as a member of the State of Ohio Fire Training Committee.
Lt Nick Papa New Britain, CT
Nick is a lieutenant with the City of New Britain Fire Department. He is a second-generation firefighter with 15 years of combined experience between New Britain and his volunteer service in the New Britain suburbs. Nick is UL-FSRI technical panelist for the Study on Coordinated Fire Attack. He is also a contributor to Fire Engineering and a FDIC instructor.
 
FF Chris Tobin, St Louis MO 
Rescue Squad 2.  7 years fire service experience.  Chris doesn’t like bios.
Sgt Chris Smith:
 Chris Smith is a Sergeant in the District of Columbia Fire Department currently assigned to Rescue 3 in the Anacostia section of Southeast Washington. During his 18 year career with D.C. he has been assigned to Engine Company 26, Truck Company 4, and Rescue 1. Chris began his journey in the fire service in 1988 as a volunteer with the Falmouth Volunteer Fire Department. While there he rose through the ranks to become Fire Chief in 2002, a position he would hold for 12 years. Before attending Blue Plains University in Washington, D.C. he was previously employed by the Fort Belvoir Fire Department and was a member of the Kentland Volunteer Fire Department from 1992-1996.

Chris holds numerous certifications from Officer IV to Master Underwater Criminal Investigator but considers himself as a lifetime student of the fire and rescue service. He is also an adjunct fire and technical rescue instructor for the D.C. Fire Department, Virginia Department of Fire Programs, and Spec Rescue International.

Captain Art Bloomer:
 Capt. Bloomer began his firefighter career in 1979. He recently retired as a Captain with the Kearny N.J. Fire Department, assigned to Station 2, housing Squad 2, Tower 2, and Technical Rescue 2. Art is also a member of the Brick Township Fire Department, Station 24, where he is a past Chief and commands the township’s Technical Rescue Team. He is also a Rescue Specialist with New Jersey Task Force 1. He is a NJ certified Level II instructor and currently is a Lead Instructor for the Ocean County Fire Academy, Northern Division, teaching Truck Company Ops, Special Operations, USAR, and Incident Command. He has been a H.O.T. Instructor for F.D.I.C. and is currently teaching both classroom and H.O.T. Workshops for F.D.I.C. He is also a past President of the Jersey F.O.O.L.S. chapter of F.O.O.L.S. International. Art has over 30 years on the job.
