The New England FOOLS presents a 2-day course that will teach firefighters to understand and implement rapid intervention. We’ll cover the theory of Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) and Firefighter Survival Training.
Firefighter Survival and Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) operations are the highest priority when a firefighter is lost, disoriented, or trapped.
This firefighter survival and RIT training program will teach self-survival and safe extrication of a downed firefighter who may be injured, trapped or lost at an emergency scene. Skills will include entanglement removal, search, SCBA harness conversion, proper use of the RIT Pack, one and two person drags, firefighter removal up or down a staircase, removal out a window utilizing various carries and ropes, as well as ladder assisted lifts from a basement.
This course is physically demanding and requires all students to demonstrate all skills taught in the program. Full PPE is required and an SCBA with spare cylinder.
Program will be hosted by Kennebunk Fire-Rescue. Saturday at the Washington Hose Station, located at 159 Port Road. Sunday will be at the West Kennebunk Station, located at 80 Thompson Road.
Cost is $95 for New England FOOLS members or SMCC Fire Science students, $115 for non-members. Click here to download the application.
